Stripe is seeking product-minded engineers to join the Builder Experience Team, which focuses on improving how Stripe's product teams build, ship, and iterate on products. This team is AI-native and reimagines workflows using AI agents and automation to address fragmented and manual processes. The role involves identifying high-friction areas in the product development lifecycle, prototyping new approaches, and scaling successful experiments into solutions used across Stripe. You will work across the full stack, combining traditional software engineering with emerging AI capabilities to discover the right product, interface, and technical architecture in ambiguous problem spaces.
Responsibilities
- Design and build tools to help Stripe teams shape better products, ship faster, and learn from users more quickly.
- Develop AI-native workflows and agents for context synthesis, automation, risk surfacing, and decision support.
- Own projects end-to-end, from problem identification and prototyping to user testing, impact measurement, and scaling.
- Work across backend systems, data sources, internal platforms, and user-facing experiences.
- Partner with product managers, engineers, designers, researchers, and cross-functional teams to understand workflows.
- Integrate with platforms like Kai and Compass, and identify needs for new foundational capabilities.
- Apply strong judgment regarding sensitive internal context, including security, privacy, permissions, and user trust.
- Help define team operations, technical foundations, product development practices, and quality standards.
- Contribute to the team's roadmap by identifying systemic friction and improvement opportunities in the product development lifecycle.
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend and/or full-stack software development experience.
- Demonstrated technical experience leading the design and delivery of new product experiences from prototype to production.
- Strong full-stack engineering skills, including building reliable backend services and polished user-facing product experiences.
- Ability to operate effectively in high-ambiguity environments, framing problems, experimenting, making technical decisions, and creating actionable paths forward.
- Excellent cross-functional and cross-organizational collaboration skills.
- Strong engineering judgment around system reliability, operational excellence, security, and maintainability.
- A product-minded approach to engineering, focused on delivering meaningful outcomes for users and the business.
- Experience with Java, Ruby, and/or TypeScript (preferred).
- Experience delivering user-facing products at Stripe or similar companies (preferred).
- Experience with 0→1 products or taking new capabilities from concept through launch and iteration (preferred).
