Scale's Red Team and Safety function is responsible for stress-testing the world's most capable AI models and influencing how labs, governments, and enterprises deploy them. This role focuses on owning day-to-day partnerships with frontier model developers, requiring technical curiosity, comfort with researchers, and operational rigor. You will collaborate closely with research, operations, and go-to-market teams to manage a portfolio of partnerships, acting as a subject-matter expert in customer conversations and coordinating delivery with internal teams.
Responsibilities
- Own and manage a portfolio of frontier-lab partnerships, including running customer conversations, scoping new engagements, and growing accounts.
- Serve as a credible subject-matter expert, explaining adversarial methodology, vulnerability taxonomies, and benchmark findings to technical buyers.
- Partner with account teams to qualify and close opportunities involving safety, red teaming, or LLM-based cybersecurity.
- Coordinate delivery with research and operations leads, ensuring alignment on scope, capacity, and timelines.
- Contribute to public benchmark launches by shaping framing, rollout, and customer narrative.
- Provide feedback to the roadmap based on customer requests, emerging issues, and desired future capabilities.
Requirements
- Working fluency in model behavior, adversarial ML, and AI safety to engage in substantive conversations with researchers and ML engineers.
- Experience managing technical accounts or partnerships, preferably with frontier AI labs, large enterprises, or federal agencies.
- Demonstrated interest in AI safety through prior work, writing, or research.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate between research and commercial audiences.
- Operational rigor, including careful scoping, commitment tracking, and managing complex engagements.
- Comfort with ambiguity and a proactive approach to action.
