Anthropic is seeking experienced software engineers to join its Platform organization. This team builds the foundational primitives that accelerate product development and owns the infrastructure and systems that enable reliable, scaled product shipping for internal and external users. You will independently scope complex, multi-month projects, drive cross-organizational alignment, and make architectural decisions that shape how Anthropic builds and scales its products. You will partner directly with research to productize cutting-edge capabilities, impacting the platform used by hundreds of thousands of companies and engineers daily.
Responsibilities
- Architect and optimize critical development infrastructure, including dev environments, observability, and CI/CD pipelines, to maximize developer productivity.
- Build and maintain core infrastructure for Anthropic's engineering organization, including service mesh, observability systems, deployment pipelines, and shared libraries.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure enabling operation across multiple cloud providers, focusing on cloud-agnostic tooling, cross-cloud networking, and multi-region deployments.
- Own and develop the MCP proxy for tool call routing, and manage OAuth and token management for authenticated connections.
- Contribute to the MCP spec (an open standard) and maintain official Python and TypeScript SDKs.
- Work on problems requiring high reliability and enterprise trust, such as token refresh at scale, admin controls for agent governance, and proxy infrastructure.
- Transform the Claude API into a cloud-native, managed product deployable across various customer environments, ensuring enterprise-grade security, compliance, and operational capabilities.
- Build and operate the infrastructure for Anthropic's Billing Platform, managing the transformation of product usage into revenue across all Anthropic products.
- Develop integration contracts for product teams to launch paid SKUs without requiring billing expertise.
- Automate the quote-to-cash lifecycle to streamline enterprise deals.
- Build reconciliation and data foundations to ensure revenue accuracy for audits.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of practical experience as a backend or platform engineer building scalable distributed systems.
- Experience operating at a tech lead level or equivalent.
- Experience with distributed systems, cloud-native products, developer tools, or external developer-facing products.
- Strong fundamentals in service-oriented architectures, networking, and systems design.
- Experience owning both the technical vision and execution of a foundational platform system end-to-end.
- Proficiency in Python, Go, Rust, or similar systems.
- Relevant experience includes OAuth, API gateways, multi-tenant platforms, building for enterprise, and MCP.
