About the job
Anthropic is seeking an experienced software engineer to build the platform for governance, risk, and compliance (GRC). This role involves consolidating compliance information from various systems into a unified platform. You will develop pipelines, integrations, and services to automate checks, create real-time dashboards, and generate evidence for decision-making and market expansion. As an early team member, you will collaborate with stakeholders across multiple departments to transform manual compliance processes into scalable, reliable systems. You will lead projects end-to-end and leverage Claude through agentic workflows for tasks like evidence collection and monitoring. Experience building internal platforms, data pipelines, or privacy systems is beneficial, and a compliance background is not required.
Responsibilities
- Design and build data pipelines to aggregate risk, control, and asset information from across Anthropic's technology stack, addressing integration challenges.
- Build and maintain integrations with cloud infrastructure, identity management, HRIS, ticketing, version control, and CI/CD systems for automated evidence collection.
- Translate policies and regulatory requirements into policy-as-code for enforceable rules and automated checks.
- Design and deploy agentic workflows using Claude for tasks like evidence analysis and control monitoring.
- Develop dashboards and reporting for real-time visibility into risk and compliance posture.
- Make architectural decisions to guide platform growth and establish engineering patterns.
- Partner with various teams to integrate controls and evidence collection into Anthropic's development processes.
- Operate and maintain reliability and data integrity for critical reporting systems.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience building backend systems, data pipelines, or internal platforms, ideally at a tech lead level.
- Strong systems thinking ability to understand data flow and system interdependencies.
- Depth in integration engineering (APIs, webhooks, event-driven architectures) or data infrastructure (warehousing, ELT/ETL, orchestration), with fluency in the other.
- Proficiency in Python, Go, or similar languages.
- Production experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and infrastructure-as-code.
- High standards for data quality and reliability, with a focus on automating manual processes.
- Full ownership of work from design to operations, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and make independent technical decisions.
- Product-focused approach to platform development, prioritizing internal customer experience.
- Excitement to build with LLMs as system components, including designing agentic workflows and ensuring their reliability.
