Speak is scaling rapidly across APAC, and we are seeking a People Operations Generalist to join our lean team and enhance our operational capacity across Korea, Japan, and Taiwan. This meaningful and hands-on role involves managing key aspects of the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, offboarding, contracts, HRIS, and multi-market compliance. You will be instrumental in improving and documenting processes, and over time, transforming them into scalable infrastructure that supports our growth across three markets. Responsibilities
- Manage the full FTE lifecycle across Korea, Japan, and Taiwan, including onboarding, contracts, probation, offboarding, and HRIS, ensuring accurate employee data through audits and gap resolution.
- Track multi-market compliance across the region, identifying regulatory changes, recommending actions, and maintaining an up-to-date employee handbook.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employees in the region regarding lifecycle and People Operations inquiries.
- Collaborate with the Global People Operations team to align global processes with local nuances in APAC markets.
- Administer local and market-specific benefits and perks, such as health checkups, insurance enrollment, and local perks.
- Support the operational execution of People programs, including engagement surveys, performance review cycles, and other recurring processes.
- Map existing workflows across the three markets, identify bottlenecks, and propose improvements.
- Build and maintain the APAC People Operations SOP and playbook library, ensuring documentation is current.
- Assist in designing and implementing workflow improvements using AI and automation for tasks like contract generation, onboarding triggers, data entry, and intake systems.
- Collect feedback from employees and partner teams to ensure improvements are impactful.
Requirements
- 4-6 years of experience in people operations, HR, or a related field.
- Proven ability to break down ambiguous problems, develop plans, and execute them.
- Strong communication skills and high emotional intelligence, with the ability to navigate sensitive conversations and align stakeholders.
- Excellent prioritization skills and the ability to make confident trade-offs, especially in resource-constrained environments.
- Demonstrated trustworthiness with sensitive information and a track record of follow-through.
- Curiosity about AI and automation, with the ability to quickly learn new tools.
- Comfort operating without clear direction in a fast-moving environment.
- Proficiency in English for day-to-day collaboration and business writing.
- Based in Seoul and available for hybrid in-office work.
- Experience working across multiple legal entities or countries is a plus.
- Experience building or significantly improving HR processes or SOPs from scratch is a plus.
- Experience working at a startup or high-growth company is a plus.
