Anthropic is seeking software engineers to build foundational systems for AI safety, oversight, and intervention mechanisms. In this role, you will focus on monitoring models, preventing misuse, and ensuring user well-being by developing systems to detect unwanted model behaviors and disallowed use cases. You will apply your technical expertise to uphold principles of safety, transparency, and oversight, contributing to the development of reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems.
Responsibilities
- Develop foundational systems for Safeguards, including infrastructure for data storage, management, metrics, evaluation, and tooling for human and agentic review.
- Ensure the operational continuity of Safeguards systems, maintaining a high operational bar for safety and customer satisfaction while minimizing human intervention.
- Build robust, multi-layered defenses for real-time improvement of safety mechanisms at scale.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or comparable experience.
- 4-10+ years of experience in a software engineering position.
- Proficiency in Python.
- Ability to work across the full stack.
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
