Sierra is seeking a Technical Accounting Lead to join their team. This role will own technical accounting policies, including documentation and adherence for areas like cost of revenue, leases, and stock-based compensation. The lead will also advise on strategic investments and acquisitions, and review monthly financials. A key part of the role involves leading audit and IPO preparedness, coordinating with external auditors, and ensuring compliance with financial statement disclosures. The position also emphasizes proactive involvement in Finance Transformation initiatives, leveraging AI and tooling to enhance the tech stack and develop an AI-first approach to accounting processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the documentation of all technical accounting policies.
  • Serve as an advisor on strategic investments, acquisitions, and partnerships.
  • Review monthly financials for adherence to accounting policies.
  • Lead the preparation of audit and IPO readiness.
  • Coordinate with external audit firm on quarterly and annual audit requirements.
  • Lead the evaluation of presentation of balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statements.
  • Ensure compliance with current financial statement disclosures requirements.
  • Enhance or upgrade the tech stack to enable the latest in AI technology.
  • Challenge existing processes and develop an AI-first approach.

Requirements

  • CPA license.
  • 2-5+ years at a Big Four firm, preferably servicing public companies.
  • 2-5+ years in-house at a high-growth enterprise software company.
  • Proficient in US GAAP.
  • Ability to identify areas for improvement and build solutions using AI.
  • Desire to drive operational efficiency to scale the accounting function.
  • A structured, self-directed, detail-oriented builder and problem solver.
  • Experience designing, running, and improving processes.
  • Bias for simplifying and automating processes.
  • Passion for building an AI-native finance function.
  • Previous IPO experience with an enterprise B2B software company (preferred).
  • Proficiency with modern office of the CFO tech stack (preferred).
