Sierra is building a platform to enable companies to create more human customer experiences with AI. The Payments Infrastructure team is responsible for the secure handling of sensitive data, integrating LLMs, payments, infrastructure, and voice technologies. This role involves designing secure protocols, building tokenization platforms, owning security perimeters, developing detection mechanisms for sensitive data, and making payments accessible to other engineers. The goal is to enable seamless, compliant payments within AI-driven conversations, enhancing customer experience and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Design secure-capture protocols for various communication channels.
- Build and extend the tokenization platform with robust encryption.
- Own and enforce the security perimeter around cardholder data environments.
- Develop deterministic and auditable detection systems for cardholder data.
- Design purpose-built models for cardholder data detection.
- Make payments a self-serve feature for other engineering teams.
- Drive platform towards processor-agnostic charging and self-serve onboarding.
- Set technical direction for complex problems and raise engineering standards.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience building backend, platform, or infrastructure systems.
- Proven track record of shipping and operating high-reliability services.
- Strong security instincts, designing with compromise in mind.
- Fluency in a systems language, preferably Go.
- Comfort owning critical distributed systems end-to-end.
- Experience setting technical direction on ambiguous, high-stakes problems.
- Generalist instinct for building clean abstractions and protocols.
- Degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
