Sierra is seeking a Software Engineer, Agent for its Public Sector team. This role will focus on designing and building production-grade AI agents for government institutions at the Federal and state level. You will partner closely with industry leadership to shape the public sector team's strategy and product components, and work directly with government institutions to understand their urgent needs and identify opportunities for AI-driven solutions. Your work will directly influence the evolution of Sierra's core platform, involving prototyping new tools and features and collaborating with research, product, and platform teams to advance AI agent development.
Responsibilities
- Design and build production-grade AI agents for government institutions.
- Partner with industry leadership on public sector team strategy, capture motion, market strategy, and product scaling.
- Collaborate with institutions to understand needs and identify opportunities for AI agents.
- Shape the future of the platform by surfacing unmet needs and prototyping new tools and features.
- Collaborate with research, product, and platform teams on AI agent development.
Requirements
- Full stack software development skills.
- Familiarity with AI development processes.
- Passion for public sector work and belief in the potential of institutions.
- Comfort working directly with customers to understand needs and solve problems.
- Experience building conversational or long-horizon agents (preferred).
- Demonstrated track record in ambiguous environments (preferred).
- Prior understanding of government work, including procurement, regulation, and partnerships (preferred).
