Sierra is building a platform to enable companies to create better, more human customer experiences with AI. We are seeking a Software Engineer, Agent to design and deliver production-grade AI agents that are central to Sierra's growth and revenue. You will own the entire Agent Development Life Cycle (ADLC), from pilot to deployment and iteration, establishing best practices along the way. This role involves partnering directly with leaders at large enterprises and cutting-edge startups to understand their challenges and build AI agents that transform their operations at scale. Your work will also directly influence the evolution of Sierra's core platform, surfacing unmet needs and prototyping new tools and features in collaboration with research, product, and platform teams.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver production-grade AI agents that are highly performant, reliable, and intuitive.
- Own and drive the Agent Development Life Cycle (ADLC) from initial pilot through deployment and continuous iteration.
- Build, tune, and evolve AI agents in production environments.
- Partner with large enterprises and startups to understand business challenges and build AI agents that transform operations.
- Collaborate with research, product, and platform teams to shape the future of AI agent development and the core platform.
- Design and build AI agents for telecommunications and media companies to manage subscription churn.
- Develop and refine AI agents for complex customer interactions, such as troubleshooting and product recommendations.
- Create generalizable AI agent frameworks tailored for industry-specific use cases.
- Facilitate design partnerships for new product initiatives, including agent architectures and generative agent development.
- Experiment with and integrate the latest voice models at scale for enterprise customers.
Requirements
- Experience building and scaling end-to-end production systems.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills, especially in fast-changing, ambiguous environments.
- A builder and tinkerer's mindset with high agency.
- Comfort working directly with customers to understand their needs and solve real-world problems.
- Excellent communication skills, clear, direct, and persuasive across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience building or deploying AI/LLM systems in production.
- Familiarity with tools that power AI agents: eval frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering.
- Prior experience with React, TypeScript, and/or Go.
- Previous roles interfacing with customers or leading technical projects with external stakeholders.
