Sierra is building a platform to enable companies to create better customer experiences using AI. We partner with industry leaders and are primarily an in-person company based in San Francisco. Our co-founders have extensive experience from leading tech companies like Salesforce, Facebook, and Google. We are looking for a Software Engineer to design, build, and ship production-grade AI agents that are central to Sierra's growth. You will own the entire Agent Development Life Cycle (ADLC), from pilot to deployment and iteration, setting best practices along the way. This role involves partnering directly with large enterprises and cutting-edge startups to understand their challenges and build AI agents that transform their operations at scale. Your work will also directly influence the evolution of Sierra's core platform by surfacing unmet needs and prototyping new tools and features.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver production-grade AI agents that are highly performant, reliable, and intuitive.
- Own and drive the Agent Development Life Cycle (ADLC), including building, tuning, and evolving AI agents in production.
- Partner with enterprise clients and startups to understand business challenges and build AI agents to address them.
- Collaborate with research, product, and platform teams to shape the future of AI agent development and Sierra's product based on customer feedback.
- Build AI agents for telecommunications, media, and financial services companies to manage churn, troubleshoot issues, and personalize recommendations.
- Develop generalizable AI agent frameworks for industry-specific use cases.
- Facilitate design partnerships for new product initiatives, including agent architectures and generative agent development.
- Experiment with and integrate the latest voice models into enterprise-grade customer solutions.
Requirements
- Experience building and scaling end-to-end production systems.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills, especially in fast-changing, ambiguous environments.
- A builder and tinkerer's mindset with high agency.
- Comfort working directly with customers to understand their needs and solve real-world problems.
- Excellent communication skills, both technical and non-technical.
- Experience building or deploying AI/LLM systems in production.
- Experience as a founder or founding engineer.
- Familiarity with AI agent tooling, including eval frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering.
- Prior experience with React, TypeScript, and/or Go.
- Previous roles involving customer interaction or leading technical projects with external stakeholders.
