Sierra is building a platform to enable companies to create better, more human customer experiences with AI. We are seeking a Software Engineer, Agent to design and deliver production-grade AI agents that are central to Sierra's growth. You will own the Agent Development Life Cycle (ADLC) from pilot to iteration, building, tuning, and evolving AI agents in production environments. This role involves partnering directly with large enterprises and cutting-edge startups to understand their business challenges and build AI agents that transform their operations. Your work will also influence the evolution of Sierra's core platform, surfacing unmet needs and prototyping new tools and features in collaboration with research, product, and platform teams.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver production-grade AI agents that are highly performant, reliable, and intuitive.
- Own and drive the Agent Development Life Cycle (ADLC), including building, tuning, and iterating on AI agents in production.
- Partner with enterprise clients and startups to understand their business challenges and build AI agents to address them.
- Contribute to the evolution of Sierra's core platform by surfacing customer needs and prototyping new features.
- Collaborate with research, product, and platform teams to shape the future of AI agent development.
Requirements
- Experience building and scaling end-to-end production systems.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills, especially in fast-changing, ambiguous environments.
- A builder and tinkerer's mindset with high agency.
- Comfort working directly with customers to understand their needs and solve real-world problems.
- Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience building or deploying AI/LLM systems in production.
- Familiarity with tools for AI agents, such as eval frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering.
- Prior experience with React, TypeScript, and/or Go.
- Previous roles interfacing with customers or leading technical projects with external stakeholders.
