About the job

Sierra is seeking a Product Manager for Voice to lead the development of real-time, human-quality AI conversations. This role is critical for shaping how Sierra agents sound, respond, and behave in live interactions, focusing on the entire voice experience from initial contact to resolution. You will be responsible for ensuring agents perform reliably in production across telephony and real-time systems, working at the intersection of speech, infrastructure, and product experience. This is a zero-to-one and scaling opportunity within a company that partners with industry leaders and is guided by strong company values.

Responsibilities

  • Define the voice interaction model, including turn-taking, interruptions, latency, tone, and error recovery.
  • Design what constitutes 'human-quality' voice interaction in practice.
  • Collaborate with engineering on building reliable real-time systems, focusing on streaming architectures and latency budgets.
  • Ensure agents respond quickly and consistently in production environments.
  • Own the voice stack experience by partnering across ASR, TTS, LLMs, and telephony integrations.
  • Determine model choices, orchestration strategies, and component integration.
  • Define metrics for evaluating voice agents, such as latency, interruption handling, resolution rate, and conversation quality.
  • Build feedback loops to continuously improve agent performance.
  • Translate real-world usage and customer feedback into product direction and improvements.
  • Identify and address edge cases in voice agent performance, such as noisy environments and accents.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of product management experience.
  • Meaningful exposure to real-time systems, voice, or AI products.
  • Experience shipping voice or real-time products, understanding constraints of latency, streaming systems, and synchronous interactions.
  • Strong technical depth to engage with engineers on system design, including speech pipelines, streaming infrastructure, and reliability tradeoffs.
  • Familiarity with AI systems, such as LLMs, speech-to-text, or text-to-speech, and their production limitations.
  • Track record of 0-to-1 product development and comfort operating in ambiguous spaces.

Benefits

  • Flexible (unlimited) paid time off
  • Medical, dental, and vision benefits for you and your family
  • Life insurance and disability benefits
  • Retirement plan dependent on country of employment
  • Parental leave
  • Fertility and family building benefits
  • Lunch, snacks, and coffee
  • Discretionary benefit stipend
  • Free alphorn lessons
