Sierra is seeking a Motion Designer to join its Creative Studio and shape how the brand comes to life through movement. This role is perfect for an individual who blends exceptional craft with systems thinking, capable of producing outstanding motion work while establishing the principles and frameworks that ensure Sierra's recognizability across all touchpoints. As part of the design team, you will collaborate with brand designers, marketers, product teams, and external partners to animate stories, products, and experiences. You will contribute to product launches, marketing campaigns, customer stories, events, social content, and new brand initiatives, translating complex AI concepts into engaging visual narratives. This is a unique opportunity to build Sierra's motion practice from the ground up and influence how customers, partners, and the industry perceive the brand.
Responsibilities
- Create high-quality motion design for marketing campaigns, product launches, customer stories, events, social content, and brand initiatives.
- Develop motion systems, principles, and animation frameworks for brand consistency and recognition.
- Build scalable motion templates, guidelines, and documentation for efficient on-brand work.
- Collaborate with design, marketing, product, and leadership teams to enhance storytelling through animation.
- Apply creative, from-the-ground-up thinking to brand campaigns and launches, exploring new communication methods for Sierra's vision and technology.
- Establish best practices for motion across digital, experiential, social, and product touchpoints.
- Mentor teammates on motion design craft, workflows, and execution.
- Explore new creative possibilities with AI while maintaining high standards for quality and taste.
- Shape the culture, systems, and visual language of the brand as a core design team member.
Requirements
- 8+ years of motion design experience with a portfolio showcasing exceptional craft, storytelling, and scalable design systems.
- Experience supporting high-growth technology, SaaS, AI, B2B, or consumer brands is preferred.
- Deep expertise in animation principles, timing, visual storytelling, typography, and motion systems.
- Ability to create visually compelling and strategically effective work.
- Experience building motion design frameworks, reusable assets, and scalable standards.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with designers, marketers, product teams, engineers, executives, and external collaborators.
- Ability to clearly articulate design rationale, creative direction, and motion principles.
- Self-starter with a builder mindset, comfortable with ambiguity and defining new processes and systems.
- Expert knowledge of After Effects, Premiere, Figma, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Experience with Cinema 4D, Rive, Lottie, AI-powered creative tools, or emerging motion workflows is a plus.
