Sierra is building a platform to enable companies worldwide to create better, more human customer experiences with AI. We partner with industry leaders and are primarily an in-person company based in San Francisco, with growing international offices. Our co-founders have extensive experience from leading tech companies like Salesforce, Facebook, and Google, with one co-founder currently serving as Board Chair of OpenAI. We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the design and delivery of production-grade AI agents, manage and grow a team of engineers, and own the Agent Development Life Cycle (ADLC). This role involves partnering with large enterprises and startups to build AI agents that transform operations and shape the future of our AI agent development platform.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of production-grade AI agents, ensuring technical excellence, operational reliability, and high customer impact.
- Manage and grow a team of engineers building highly performant, reliable, and intuitive AI agents.
- Guide the team through the full Agent Development Life Cycle (ADLC), from pilot to deployment and iteration.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, meet customer needs, and scale effectively in production.
- Collaborate with leaders at enterprises and startups to understand business challenges and build transformative AI agents.
- Surface unmet needs and prioritize initiatives based on customer work to shape the future of AI agent development and the platform.
Requirements
- Experience leading engineering teams that build and scale end-to-end production systems.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills and ability to guide teams through ambiguous, fast-changing environments.
- Leadership style that blends high standards with empathy, fostering both speed and quality.
- Proven ability to work closely with customers and translate business needs into technical deliverables.
- Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
