About the job

Sarvam is building India's full-stack sovereign AI platform, focusing on research, models, infrastructure, and applications to make AI work for India. This Developer Relations Engineer role is a blend of engineering, content creation, and community engagement, with a primary focus on the code and content aspects. As a Developer Advocate, you will be a developer first, creating demos, integrations, and technical content that showcase the capabilities of Sarvam's models and facilitate their adoption by other developers. Your work will often be the initial touchpoint for developers interacting with Sarvam, requiring a high standard for both code and written communication. A core aspect of this role is empathy, understanding developer frustrations with APIs or documentation, and channeling that insight back to the engineering team to drive improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Build cookbook recipes and end-to-end code examples for voice agents, multilingual RAG, document AI, and Indic-language applications using Sarvam APIs, including "Open in Colab" notebooks.
  • Create technical content such as blog posts, tutorials, quickstarts, and how-to guides, and present this content through talks, livestreams, and videos.
  • Develop and document integrations with platforms like LiveKit, LangChain, LlamaIndex, Vercel AI SDK, and Pipecat to ensure Sarvam APIs integrate seamlessly with existing developer tools.
  • Improve the developer experience (DX) of the SDK and documentation by identifying friction points, writing fixes, and shipping improvements to the Python SDK, TypeScript adapter, and docs site.
  • Monitor key metrics like SDK installs, cookbook usage, error rates, and integration adoption to provide insights that help prioritize future development and content.
  • Act as a feedback loop, translating developer insights and pain points into actionable improvements for the engineering team.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience in software engineering, developer advocacy, or technical content roles, with a track record of shipping code to users.
  • Proficiency in writing code and prose, with strong Python skills and ideally TypeScript.
  • Ability to clearly explain code and technical concepts to developers unfamiliar with Sarvam.
  • Demonstrated experience shipping public projects, code repositories, blog posts, talks, or demos.
  • Genuine interest in language and AI, including speech, translation, and large language models, particularly in the context of Indian languages.
  • Excellent written communication skills, ensuring clarity in documentation, tutorials, and other technical writing.
  • Passion for teaching and effectively delivering technical content through various formats like talks, workshops, and livestreams.
  • Ability to take loosely defined briefs and deliver polished results independently.
  • Experience building with LLM/voice/speech APIs (bonus).
  • Contributions to open source projects (bonus).
  • Experience speaking at meetups or conferences (bonus).
  • Experience creating developer-facing content with an audience (bonus).
