About the job
SambaNova is seeking a Senior Principal AI Solutions Engineer, a hands-on technical leader responsible for setting the technical direction of their solutions portfolio and actively building agentic applications. This role involves transforming customer problems into polished, production-ready applications rapidly. You will work across the entire modern AI stack, including open-weight models, agent frameworks, self-improving evaluation loops, multimodal and voice pipelines, and user-friendly front-end interfaces. You will lead engagements with strategic customers, mentor the solutions team, and provide valuable feedback to the platform.
This position requires expertise in designing and building reliable single- and multi-agent systems with advanced features like planning, tool/function calling, and long-running workflows. You will also develop feedback loops for continuous improvement of agents, including automated evaluations and fine-tuning. A key aspect is setting up robust evaluation, tracing, and guardrails to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and latency for deployed solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design and build reliable single- and multi-agent systems with planning, tool/function calling, MCP, memory, and long-running workflows.
- Build feedback loops for agents, including automated evaluations, LLM-as-judge, trace-driven optimization, synthetic data generation, and fine-tuning.
- Set up evaluation harnesses, tracing, and guardrails to measure quality, cost, and latency.
- Choose, adapt, and combine open-weight models (e.g., Llama, Qwen, DeepSeek, Gemma) for customer use cases, including fine-tuning and model routing.
- Benchmark end-to-end solutions to demonstrate the impact of fast inference on application capabilities.
- Validate new models and capabilities on SambaNova's platform and report gaps to Product and Engineering.
- Build polished, usable web applications (e.g., React/Next.js, TypeScript) for non-technical users.
- Develop domain-specific solutions for finance, legal, healthcare, and research, including document analysis, RAG, and workflow automation.
- Build multimodal solutions integrating vision-language, document understanding, and agentic reasoning.
- Develop real-time voice agents and audio pipelines with low latency.
- Set the technical direction for the solutions portfolio, focusing on agentic, multimodal, and vertical patterns.
- Act as the senior technical authority, reviewing designs and mentoring engineers.
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor to customer CTOs and AI leaders on architecture and scaling AI.
- Lead technical discovery, workshops, hackathons, and co-builds with strategic customers.
- Publish reference architectures, starter kits, and best-practice guides.
- Develop tooling and automation for SambaStack deployment and management.
- Provide feedback on model requests, feature gaps, and developer experience to inform the product roadmap.
- Represent SambaNova through demos, talks, blogs, and community contributions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, or a related field.
- 8+ years (IC5) or 10+ years (IC6) of industry experience in software, ML, or solutions engineering.
- 3+ years of experience building LLM-based applications that reached production.
- Proven experience building agentic systems, including tool/function calling, multi-agent orchestration, and frameworks like LangGraph or CrewAI.
