Salesforce is seeking a Staff or Senior Staff engineer to build out Agentic Analytics at Slack. This role will involve collaborating on technical direction, building, and taking projects from early prototypes through production. The work will span various parts of the data stack, including ingestion, infrastructure, semantic layers, and interfaces for both humans and AI agents. You will partner with engineers across Data Engineering, Data Science, product, core infrastructure, and developer experience to iterate on high-leverage problem spaces and deliver pragmatic solutions.
Responsibilities
- Build a data platform for AI agents, designing APIs, MCPs, and tools for mapping data concepts to entities in the data warehouse.
- Improve the semantic layer to make metric definitions, lineage, ownership, and reliability navigable for both people and agents.
- Develop ingestion and infrastructure for timely analytics and experimentation, evaluating tradeoffs between freshness, accuracy, reliability, and cost.
- Ship tools that simplify data analysis, query drafting, root cause analysis, and visualization building.
- Drive architecture, implementation, rollout, and adoption for the data platform.
- Elevate the engineering bar across teams through mentorship, design decision guidance, and technical dependency resolution.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience building and operating a data platform.
- Proven track record of leading complex technical projects across teams as an individual contributor.
- Strong software engineering skills combined with deep data expertise.
- Clear technical communication and ability to build alignment with cross-functional partners.
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Go, or Java.
