AI Infrastructure Engineer

About the job

Salesforce is seeking an engineer to build and operate the cloud infrastructure that powers the company at scale. This role focuses on designing and delivering infrastructure vending machines and reusable IaC modules, enabling internal product teams to provision governed AWS environments rapidly. The engineer will own their domain as a product, understanding customer pain points, reducing friction, and shipping solutions. The team operates with an automation-first design and a "No Ticket-Ops" philosophy, integrating AI tools into every workflow and agents into GitOps pipelines.

Responsibilities

  • Own AWS infrastructure provisioning as a Terraform Enterprise SME, automating multi-region, multi-account setup via AWS Organizations and Control Tower.
  • Author, test, and version-control a library of secure Terraform modules, translating compliance requirements into Sentinel/SCP policies.
  • Integrate automated security scanning, Policy-as-Code enforcement, and cost guardrails into developer PRs, using AI for risk surfacing and remediation.
  • Implement automated failover across Availability Zones and regions using Cloud WAN, ARC, and FIS, and lead failure simulation Game Days.
  • Integrate provisioning pipelines and AI agents into Slack for real-time intelligence, ChatOps control, and zero-touch operations.
  • Utilize AI coding assistants as primary tools for authoring, reviewing, and validating infrastructure code.
  • Build a centralized observability platform including logging, metrics, and tracing, and define/enforce SLOs/SLIs.
  • Advise internal teams on observability best practices, alerting strategies, and resilience architecture.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in Software Engineering, SRE, or Platform Engineering in large-scale AWS environments.
  • Expert-level Terraform skills, including state management at scale, module decoupling, and continuous IaC delivery.
  • Strong proficiency in Python or Go for custom tooling and AWS SDK integrations.
  • Deep understanding of core AWS services like IAM, VPC, Cloud WAN, EKS/ECS, Lambda, and DynamoDB, with experience in multi-region active-active DR.
  • Experience with GitOps-driven deployments and automated guardrails in enterprise pipelines.
  • Active practitioner of AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or Gemini.
