About the job
Salesforce is seeking a Principal Member of Technical Staff (PMTS) to lead the technical direction for their Digital Wallet team. This role focuses on high-scale, business-critical consumption and usage-metering systems that ensure customers pay accurately for what they use. You will be responsible for setting architecture, driving execution, and owning end-to-end delivery across the full software development lifecycle. This is a hands-on technical leadership position where you will act as a force multiplier, raising the technical bar through reviews and mentorship, and ensuring the accuracy, performance, and scalability of the Digital Wallet systems for all Salesforce customers.
Responsibilities
- Own the technical direction for teams within Digital Wallet, driving performance, scalability, and security.
- Architect and ship complex, end-to-end features across multiple services and systems.
- Author architectural documents, design specifications, and test strategies.
- Act as the definitive technical voice for your team(s) on cross-boundary plans and problems.
- Take ownership of customer trust for consumption and billing accuracy, defining SLIs/SLOs and leading incident response.
- Set a multi-release technical vision, managing backlog and tech debt.
- Set the bar for design reviews, code reviews, testing, and CI practices.
- Mentor and elevate senior engineers and peer teams, leading service-ownership practices.
- Communicate technical vision, architecture, and strategy to leadership and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong track record of designing and delivering large-scale distributed systems.
- Demonstrated history as a senior IC driving architecture and execution across multiple teams or domains.
- Mastery of engineering fundamentals including fault tolerance, concurrency, API design, data modeling, maintainability, security, scalability, and testability.
- Hands-on experience across the full SDLC, owning features end-to-end.
- Experience building high-scale services across both Platform (Core) and Off-Core / distributed service environments.
- Strong ability to communicate technical vision, trade-offs, and strategy to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to mentor engineers and elevate team technical capabilities.
- Passion for innovation and staying current with industry trends and technologies.
