About the job
Replit is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for its Money team to lead the integration and operation of financial partnerships. This zero-to-one role involves taking partnerships from initial scoping through to reliable operation, ensuring seamless transactions for Replit's builders and their applications worldwide. You will act as the key technical liaison between Replit engineering and financial partners, including billing platforms, payment processors, and compliance vendors. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys both coding and strategic partnership discussions, understanding that early design decisions have long-term impacts on integration success.
Responsibilities
- Take financial partnerships from zero-to-one, including scoping, designing, building, shipping, and operating integrations.
- Own the technical relationship with financial partners throughout their lifecycle.
- Build and maintain integrations with agentic-commerce protocols (ACP, UCP, MPP) and Shared Payment Tokens.
- Design abstractions to enable other Replit engineers to monetize new products efficiently.
- Build the observability layer for partner-facing flows, focusing on webhook reliability, reconciliation, and incident response.
- Drive partner-side incident response and conduct post-incident reviews to harden integrations.
- Represent Replit in technical reviews with partners, providing API design feedback and protocol input.
- Collaborate with internal teams (finance, legal, BD) to ensure auditable financial data and contractual SLA compliance.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong backend expertise.
- Direct, hands-on experience integrating with at least one external financial partner platform end-to-end, including go-live and steady-state operation.
- Proven track record of taking integrations from zero-to-one, including scoping, navigating ambiguous specs, and operating production-grade integrations.
- Strong system-design instincts in high-correctness domains involving money, idempotency, retries, reconciliation, and observability.
- Comfort working autonomously across organizational boundaries and managing partner relationships.
- Excellent debugging skills for systems not directly owned, including analyzing partner API behavior from logs and traces.
