Replit is seeking a Staff Software Engineer specializing in monetization systems to lead this critical area of the company. This role offers a direct line to business impact while ensuring a positive user experience for billing and payment processes. The ideal candidate will build reliable, scalable billing systems and abstractions, translating complex pricing into intuitive user interfaces. This position is crucial for democratizing software development by removing barriers to application creation.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and implementation of monetization systems.
- Create seamless payment experiences for users across product-led and sales-led motions.
- Build new abstractions and APIs for other engineers to monetize their products.
- Iterate on pricing and packaging tactics to drive revenue growth, including coupon codes and referral systems.
- Create monitoring and feedback systems to proactively identify and fix problems, and optimize performance.
Requirements
- 6+ years of engineering experience, with strong backend skills.
- Direct working experience in subscription platforms, usage-based billing, SaaS taxation, payment platforms, or tokenization.
- Self-directed and comfortable working autonomously in ambiguous environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to debug complex billing issues and edge cases.
- Experience implementing customer-facing billing interfaces that simplify complex pricing structures.
