Replit is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their Agent Platform team. This role involves building tools that accelerate product engineers' iteration on the Agent experience and directly enhancing the core Agent itself. You will act as a bridge between the AI and UX teams, tackling complex full-stack challenges from browser interfaces to high-performance backends and Linux systems engineering. The ideal candidate possesses a strong product sense and the ability to power it with performant systems, with opportunities to lead end-to-end efforts and grow across the company's infrastructure and product.
Responsibilities
- Build high-throughput backend applications and services, including streaming chat between user and agent.
- Design a collaborative 'Multiplayer Computer' for real-time human and AI agent collaboration on shared environments.
- Develop frontend and backend infrastructure to enable product engineers to rapidly ship user experiences.
- Design and build interfaces between the Agent and internal/external agentic systems.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional experience in building backend services, systems, and platforms.
- Values simplicity and pragmatism, thinking radically but shipping incrementally.
- Self-directed and comfortable working autonomously.
- Collaborative and team-oriented with a strong sense of shared ownership.
- Experience across the full-stack.
- Experience building AI-powered tooling or products.
- Experience with collaborative editing technologies (e.g., OT, CRDTs, Git internals).
- Experience with event sourcing systems.
