Replit is seeking a Product Engineer to join their Product Platform team. This role focuses on building and owning the shared foundations that power the entire Replit platform, impacting backend infrastructure, connectors, product primitives, and the frontend. You will contribute to making product development safer, faster, and more consistent by designing reusable systems, improving performance and reliability, and hardening systems against failure. The work offers high leverage and exposure across the engineering organization, with opportunities to influence technical direction and improve the developer experience, including for AI coding agents.
Responsibilities
- Design reusable primitives and interfaces with clear contracts and documentation for adoption by other teams.
- Collaborate with product teams to translate their challenges into platform improvements.
- Profile and instrument shared systems to identify and implement improvements in latency, cost, and reliability.
- Harden systems against failure and abuse, establishing safe defaults as the easiest path.
- Set technical direction through architecture and design reviews, documenting decisions and rollout plans.
Requirements
- Experience shipping and operating software in production, including reliability, performance, incident management, and observability.
- Proven experience building and operating platform systems relied upon by other teams.
- Ability to articulate and balance tradeoffs between user experience, correctness, delivery speed, and long-term maintainability.
- Comfortable collaborating cross-functionally with engineering, design, and product partners.
- Proficiency in modern web stacks such as TypeScript, React, Node.js, and Postgres, with expertise in frontend, backend, or full-stack development.
