Replit is seeking an Engineering Manager, Mobile to lead the future of its mobile experiences. This role involves building and managing a team that bridges design and engineering to create intuitive, performant mobile interfaces, making software creation accessible on any device. The manager will guide the team in building production-ready frameworks and patterns for high-quality in-product experiences, enabling users to create apps from their phones or tablets with the same power as desktop.
Responsibilities
- Build, mentor, and grow a team of mobile design engineers, fostering technical excellence and design craftsmanship.
- Define the technical vision and strategy for mobile design systems, establishing scalable frameworks and patterns.
- Partner with design, product, and engineering leadership to prioritize mobile initiatives.
- Drive best practices for mobile-first development, ensuring production-grade patterns and consistent experiences.
- Oversee the architecture of complex mobile UI components and systems, providing technical guidance and code review.
- Champion accessible, responsive interfaces and improve the mobile design-to-development workflow.
- Balance hands-on technical contribution with people management, guiding architectural decisions.
Requirements
- 3+ years of engineering management experience with a track record of building and scaling high-performing teams.
- Proven experience building production frameworks and component systems that scale across products.
- Deep technical background in mobile development, including experience with mobile-specific web APIs, native mobile development (Swift/Kotlin), React and React Native (or similar cross-platform frameworks), PWAs, mobile design patterns, and complex UI animations and gesture-based interactions.
- Excellent communication skills for technical leadership, people management, mentoring, performance management, and career development.
