Ramp is building the smart infrastructure for finance teams, automating how businesses spend money. We are seeking a Software Engineer for our Developer API team, which builds the programmatic surfaces that allow developers and AI agents to interact with Ramp's financial infrastructure. This role is ideal for someone who thinks agent-first, has strong opinions on developer experience, and wants to define how software interacts with financial systems at scale. You will be instrumental in making it easy for engineers to ship new capabilities across all Ramp surfaces.
Responsibilities
- Build and operate Ramp's multi-surface platform with a high bar for reliability, correctness, and developer experience.
- Serve thousands of builders and partners using our API, driving a significant portion of Ramp’s revenue.
- Build autonomous tooling and agents to accelerate endpoint creation and enable teams to ship their own API surfaces.
- Lead design and execution of complex backend projects end-to-end, including architecture, implementation, rollout, and monitoring.
- Own user experience and platform robustness end-to-end, emphasizing quality, reliability, and sustainability in API evolution.
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience.
- Experience building APIs or developer-facing platforms.
- Strong instinct for developer experience, understanding the impact of poor documentation, error messages, and onboarding.
- Strong ownership over delivering technical and business outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated hands-on, daily use of AI coding agents as the primary development driver.
- Comfort with agentic workflows, orchestration layers, and AI tooling broadly.
