Scale's public sector business is focused on delivering cutting-edge agentic AI to orchestrate portfolio management for homeland defense. We are seeking a Program Manager (PgM) to lead and own the execution for Scale's portfolio of clients dedicated to the layered defense of the United States. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring deep technical understanding, strong customer relationship management, and the ability to drive change in fast-moving, mission-driven environments. You will be instrumental in solving complex problems by working closely with our engineering team.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the contractual and internal program lead for large-scale public sector engagements, integrating multiple sub-efforts.
  • Manage relationships with senior government stakeholders to ensure contractual obligations, performance metrics, and reporting requirements are met.
  • Oversee relationships with subcontractors to ensure successful prime contract delivery.
  • Lead formal engagements including contract reviews, customer program syncs, performance assessments, and reporting cycles.
  • Lead and supervise a team of 3-4 delivery managers responsible for day-to-day customer engagement.
  • Oversee a technical delivery team to align product roadmaps with evolving customer needs.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • 10+ years of professional experience, preferably managing complex technical programs for DoD or national security customers.
  • Proven ability to lead large, cross-functional efforts involving delivery, contracts, and customer teams.
  • Obsession with establishing and driving adoption of programmatic systems and processes, with the ability to influence and manage change.
  • Familiarity with FAR-based contracts and program structures (e.g., IDIQs, task orders, OTAs).
  • Strong business acumen, including managing performance metrics, contract deliverables, and program budgets.
  • Track record of high ownership in ambiguous environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly with senior government stakeholders.
  • Deep curiosity about agentic AI and its application to homeland layered defense.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.
