Physical Intelligence is building foundation models and learning algorithms to bring general-purpose AI into the physical world. The People Operations role sits within the People team, reporting to the HRBP and working closely with recruitment, the Head of People, and our Business Operations lead. This is a high-ownership role where you will build the systems and programs that support PI's workforce as the company scales. Your operational precision will directly enable the team to move faster and stay compliant.

Responsibilities

  • Design and create onboarding workflows for a simple, accurate, and customized new hire experience.
  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for hourly and exempt employees in Rippling, including audits, premium pay calculations, and compliance.
  • Administer benefits, including open enrollment, qualifying life events, carrier data audits, and employee communications.
  • Maintain Rippling as the system of record for employee data, including job and compensation changes, and reporting.
  • Monitor and execute federal, California, and San Francisco compliance obligations.
  • Partner with the HRBP on operational components of employee relations, leaves, accommodations, and separation workflows.
  • Draft and maintain standard HR documents such as offer letters and policy acknowledgments.
  • Build or rebuild current HR processes to increase efficiency and employee support.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of HR operations experience in California, with exposure to high volume hourly and exempt populations.
  • Fluency in Rippling, with the ability to architect and troubleshoot.
  • Strong working knowledge of California wage and hour law.
  • Experience administering group health benefits, including carrier relationships, open enrollment, and QLE processing.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and process ownership.
  • Ability to create and refine processes to support a high-growth environment.
  • Familiarity with San Francisco-specific compliance requirements (bonus).
  • Prior experience at a startup or high-growth company (bonus).
  • Experience as an HR generalist (bonus).
