About the job

Perplexity is seeking a Product Manager, Growth to join their team and focus on the product systems and experiences that help more people discover, adopt, and get lasting value from their AI product. This role involves working closely with design and engineering to drive user growth and engagement. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and writing skills, the ability to envision innovative technology, and a passion for reimagining work for greater efficiency and creativity. This position requires a blend of product intuition and analytical rigor, with an emphasis on highlighting successful growth initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Own and develop the upsell roadmap, creating new levers and iterating on existing ones to improve key metrics.
  • Design and execute onboarding experiments to accelerate new users' first successful outcome.
  • Build personalized recommendations to encourage deeper product usage, including connector suggestions and segment-aware features.
  • Manage upgrade flows to drive paid conversions, plan upgrades, and paid credit purchases.
  • Oversee the adoption of new product features, determining rollout strategies and measuring impact on retention and paid usage.
  • Drive cross-device conversion by encouraging users to move between web and mobile/desktop applications.
  • Analyze user funnels, cohorts, and segments to identify high-leverage growth opportunities and define relevant metrics.
  • Implement guardrails for retention, support volume, and margin, ensuring conversion improvements do not negatively impact the product.
  • Create clear product specifications, tickets, and experiment briefs, coordinating execution across multiple teams including engineering, design, data, and marketing.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of total work experience with a strong academic record.
  • Approximately 2 years in investment banking, strategy consulting, or a similar high-intensity analytical role, followed by operating experience such as a growth or product role at a startup, or founding a company.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, fluency in SQL, and proficiency in experiment design and statistical analysis.
  • Deep understanding of user segmentation, user journeys, personas, and behavioral triggers.
  • Strong product intuition with the ability to differentiate between helpful and intrusive upsells and consider second-order effects.
  • Ability to manage multiple parallel experiments and transition seamlessly between analysis, spec-writing, and shipping within a single week.
  • Proactive, low-ego, and high-ownership mentality, comfortable working in ambiguous environments with evolving processes.
