Perplexity AI is seeking experienced Generalist Software Engineers to join our Perplexity and Comet application teams. These teams are dedicated to transforming knowledge work through high-impact desktop and Comet applications. The ideal candidate will possess strong programming abilities and a proven track record of shipping high-quality, production software over multiple years. Our technology stack encompasses a variety of skill sets, including Rust, Kotlin, Swift, Typescript, Chromium, and Perplexity’s core AI stack. We value engineers who can navigate multiple codebases and learn rapidly, setting a high standard for all candidates.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with product teams to implement new mobile experiences.
- Partner with design teams to create fast and intuitive user interfaces.
- Leverage Perplexity Computer and other Agentic coding tools to enhance development speed.
- Work with data science and machine learning teams to instrument, analyze, and optimize the overall user experience.
- Coordinate with infrastructure and QA teams on deployment procedures, including testing, release, and monitoring.
Requirements
- Over 4 years of industry experience.
- Proven experience in shipping high-quality native applications.
- Experience in architecting code that is understandable by both humans and AI agents.
- A deep understanding of application performance.
- The ability to take ownership of projects and features, driving them forward proactively.
