Perplexity is seeking energetic researchers and engineers to join our Secure Intelligence Institute (SII), a flagship research center focused on advancing security, privacy, and trust in frontier intelligence. As a member of SII, you will conduct original and impactful research to improve the security and privacy of frontier AI systems. Your work will be informed by the realities of operating AI systems used by millions, and you will translate research into practical improvements to protect users.
Responsibilities
- Develop threat models for AI-native products like browsers, search, and autonomous agents.
- Identify and analyze security and privacy threats across AI systems, infrastructure, and products.
- Develop novel defenses, mitigations, and detection mechanisms for AI-native products.
- Build security evaluation frameworks, benchmarks, and datasets.
- Translate research into shipped security features and hardened system architectures.
- Collaborate with academic and industry researchers.
- Publish findings at premier venues and contribute to the security research community.
Requirements
- PhD (or equivalent research experience) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, with a focus on security and/or privacy.
- Experience publishing at top security conferences demonstrating original, impactful research.
- Deep expertise in one or more of: security of agentic systems, systems security, web and applications security, program analysis, and software security.
- Proficiency in Python (TypeScript, Go, and/or Rust are a bonus).
- Ability to operate with high independence and take ownership in a fast-paced environment.
- Clear and concise communication skills to translate complex narratives into actionable insights.
