This internship program offers a full-time, in-person opportunity in Berlin for 12 to 24 weeks. Interns will focus on advancing search quality through innovative models, data, and tools. The role involves training and optimizing large-scale deep learning models, with a particular emphasis on retrieval and ranking models. Additionally, interns will conduct research in representation learning, covering areas like contrastive learning, multilingual, evaluation, and multimodal modeling for search and retrieval. A key aspect of the role includes building and optimizing RAG pipelines for enhanced grounding and answer generation.
Responsibilities
- Advance search quality through models, data, tools, or other leverage.
- Train and optimize large-scale deep learning models using PyTorch, distributed training, and hardware acceleration, focusing on retrieval and ranking.
- Conduct research in representation learning, including contrastive learning, multilingual, evaluation, and multimodal modeling for search and retrieval.
- Build and optimize RAG pipelines for grounding and answer generation.
Requirements
- Understanding of search and retrieval systems, quality evaluation principles, and metrics.
- Proficiency with PyTorch, including distributed training techniques and performance optimization for large models.
- Interest in representation learning (contrastive learning, dense & sparse vector representations, representation fusion, cross-lingual representation alignment, training data optimization, robust evaluation).
- Publication record in AI/ML conferences or workshops (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL, EMNLP, SIGIR).
