OpenRouter is seeking an AI enthusiast to own model launches and provider onboarding. This role involves bringing new models to market and driving the onboarding process for new providers, offering an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys tinkering with AI models and desires to build technical depth while working directly with model labs and providers in the AI ecosystem. The position focuses on tooling for benchmarks, onboarding, and internal operations, as well as managing end-to-end launch playbooks for various model types.
Responsibilities
- Build internal tools to accelerate the model onboarding process.
- Develop internal evaluations for rapid model and endpoint assessment.
- Document internal procedures and prepare them for automation.
- Execute comprehensive launch playbooks for diverse model types, including scoping, test plans, latency/quality checks, pricing/quotas, documentation, and announcement materials.
- Collaborate with model providers for integration, quality assurance, and timely delivery.
- Maintain clear versioning and release notes, managing deprecations and migrations.
Requirements
- 2-3 years of experience in a startup, software engineering, product operations, or a similar field.
- Proficiency in building with inference APIs, such as Chat Completions, Responses, and/or Messages API.
- Ability to read API documentation and troubleshoot using logs, cURL, or Postman.
- Experience with TypeScript/JavaScript and/or Python.
- A proactive and ambitious mindset with a strong learning ability and a bias towards shipping.
- Passion for AI and developer experience.
- A CS/Engineering degree is a plus but not required if demonstrated technical aptitude exists.
