OpenAI's Applied AI Engineering (AIE) team empowers customers globally to build and implement AI solutions that drive tangible business outcomes. This role is for a Technical Program Manager to spearhead the planning, execution, and continuous operation of programs within the AIE team. You will translate customer, field, and leadership priorities into actionable programs across various regions and customer segments, meticulously managing milestones, dependencies, risks, and delivery in close collaboration with AIE, Sales, Product, and partner teams. Beyond execution, you will be responsible for enhancing AIE's internal operational processes and tools, and working with leadership to address adoption and delivery challenges. This position offers a blend of direct program ownership with the opportunity to influence AIE's strategic direction, optimize team operations, and scale successful methodologies worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end delivery and operations for a portfolio of global AIE initiatives, including project plans, milestones, dependencies, risks, regional rollout, leadership updates, and performance tracking.
- Collaborate with AIE and GTM leaders to define industry strategy by synthesizing customer and field feedback, identifying recurring workflows and adoption barriers, and prioritizing use cases and investments.
- Partner with AIEs across regions and customer segments to identify and address adoption, delivery, and operational bottlenecks, working with leadership to prioritize actions, align resources, and drive resolution.
- Lead the design of reusable technical industry workshops, including agendas, demos, materials, and next steps, for regional teams to adapt.
- Collaborate with hyperscaler and ecosystem partners to develop joint industry use cases and coordinate technical readiness, launches, and go-to-market execution.
- Own the roadmap, quality, and lifecycle of API and industry demos, technical blueprints, and field enablement playbooks, ensuring assets are current, reusable, and aligned with customer needs and product capabilities.
- Design and execute field-wide technical campaigns in collaboration with AIE, Sales, Product, and partner teams, tailoring regional execution to drive customer adoption.
- Improve AIE's internal operating mechanisms and tooling, including intake, prioritization, operating reviews, and reporting, establishing feedback loops, shared success metrics, and dashboards.
- Use automation and insights to enhance team effectiveness and inform AIE, industry, and product priorities.
Requirements
- At least 10+ years of experience in the technology industry, with a proven track record in technical program management, technical strategy, technical GTM, industry programs, or technology consulting.
- Experience at hyperscalers, independent software vendors (ISVs), or consulting firms is preferred.
- Experience driving technical sales motions and field-wide campaigns with measurable customer adoption or business results.
- Strong technical fluency in AI, APIs, cloud platforms, and enterprise deployment tradeoffs.
- Experience scoping use cases and shaping technical demos, prototypes, workshops, or reference implementations with engineers.
- Ability to translate customer and field signals into a clear industry point of view, distinguish repeatable needs from one-off requests, and prioritize investments.
- Experience partnering with hyperscalers or technology ecosystems on joint solutions, technical enablement, or go-to-market programs.
- Experience building and managing internal workflows or tooling used by teams daily.
- Experience using automation and AI-powered business intelligence (BI) tools to reduce manual work, build dashboards, define success metrics, and inform decisions using adoption and program-performance data.
- Experience leading large-scale global initiatives from design through multi-region rollout and ongoing operations, balancing shared standards with local needs.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, influence without formal authority, and communicate clearly with technical, field, partner, and executive audiences across regions and functions.
