About the job
OpenAI's Enterprise Platform & Technology team is seeking a Senior Integrations Engineer to design, build, and operate the systems and data architecture that power our core supply chain operations. This role involves modernizing workflows through strategic integrations, scalable automation, and seamless data flows to enable operational agility, visibility, and execution. You will combine integration platforms, Python development, and APIs to deliver reliable data flows across enterprise systems, internal applications, and external partners, working closely with various teams to improve data integrity and support the transition to modern cloud platforms.
Responsibilities
- Define integration architecture and reusable design patterns across the supply chain technology landscape.
- Build and support integrations connecting ERP, SCM systems, internal applications, e-commerce platforms, and third-party logistics providers.
- Develop workflows, APIs, event-driven services, and batch/file interfaces.
- Build production Python applications, integration services, reusable connectors, and operational tools with automated tests.
- Implement API and EDI partner integrations, including data mappings, onboarding, testing, and reconciliation.
- Develop Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, tools, and plugins to connect AI-enabled applications to supply chain systems.
- Own production reliability through monitoring, alerting, incident response, and recovery.
- Embed access controls, segregation of duties, and auditability into integration design for SOX compliance.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in integration development, architecture, and design, with a track record of delivering and operating production systems.
- Hands-on proficiency with at least two integration platforms (e.g., Workato, MuleSoft, Oracle Integration Cloud).
- Python as a primary development language with experience building production applications or integration services.
- Experience in high-volume environments such as customer-facing e-commerce and understanding of supply chain processes.
- Understanding of integration patterns, REST/SOAP services, asynchronous messaging, EDI, and data formats (JSON, XML, CSV).
- Experience building or maintaining third-party API integrations, including OAuth, webhooks, rate limits, pagination, retries, idempotency, and failure recovery.
- Comfort working with AWS or Azure and supporting technologies (e.g., Kafka, PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch).
- Experience with microservices and containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Ownership of systems throughout their production lifecycle, including on-call support.
- Clear communication of technical issues and business impact to both engineering and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, and translate business needs into technical solutions.
