About the job

OpenAI is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to lead cross-functional security, privacy, IT, and compliance initiatives. This role is deeply technical and execution-focused, requiring a structured operator to drive complex programs that reduce internal data access, prevent misuse, and ship security capabilities. You will focus on critical initiatives across insider threat, information security, physical security, and information technology challenges, partnering effectively across boundaries to scale trust, governance, and security across OpenAI’s systems and products.

Responsibilities

  • Drive execution of critical security and compliance programs like vulnerability management, M&A security, infrastructure hardening, and datacenter security.
  • Collaborate on technical architecture and resolve technical problems with engineering teams.
  • Build scalable programs and deliver security outcomes across insider threat, information security, physical security, and information technology.
  • Establish frameworks for vulnerability management, evidence collection, incident response, supply chain risk management, and device security.
  • Track and enforce privacy and security requirements, translating commitments into engineering milestones.
  • Create and maintain program-level visibility across risk areas, security milestones, and cross-org dependencies.
  • Communicate status, risks, tradeoffs, and decisions to technical and executive audiences.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience leading complex technical programs focused on infrastructure security, data privacy, compliance, or enterprise platform capabilities.
  • Deep fluency in the intersection of engineering systems, security controls, and regulatory expectations.
  • Ability to bring clarity and structure across engineering, security, and regulatory domains.
  • Experience thriving in high-trust environments, applying rigor and systems thinking to ambiguity.
  • Operate with a bias for aligned execution over organizational boundaries.
  • Structured, detail-oriented, and rigorous in ensuring quality, accountability, and durable delivery.
  • Proven record of success driving highly cross-functional efforts across engineering, infrastructure, legal, compliance, and product stakeholders.
  • Empathetic communicator and leader able to influence across technical and non-technical audiences.
