We are seeking an experienced Research Engineer to focus on retrieval and search challenges across our API and ChatGPT. As AI has advanced, retrieval and search have become critical use cases, and we are committed to providing robust search-based product experiences for our users. You will be instrumental in our company-wide retrieval and search initiatives, with your contributions impacting millions of end users.
Responsibilities
- Develop retrieval and search algorithms and methodologies in collaboration with the research team, addressing areas like document search, enterprise search, knowledge retrieval, and web-scale search.
- Implement these search methodologies into production for both the API and ChatGPT, serving millions of users.
- Investigate novel research topics in retrieval and search to inform future product strategy.
- Collaborate with researchers, engineers, product managers, and designers to launch new features and research capabilities.
Requirements
- Extensive experience building and maintaining production machine learning systems.
- Experience with vector databases, search indices, or other data stores for search and retrieval.
- Experience building and iterating on internet-scale search systems.
- Ability to own problems end-to-end and acquire necessary knowledge.
- Capacity to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
