The Human Data team at OpenAI is responsible for transforming human feedback into reliable signals for training and evaluating AI models. This role involves designing and executing end-to-end programs to capture the nuances of human intent in various AI applications. The team's work spans bespoke data campaigns, scalable synthetic data generation, and product-embedded signals, partnering closely with research teams to create training datasets and improve model capabilities. As a Program Manager in this team, you will be a key interface between external vendors and AI trainers, ensuring the successful completion of human data campaigns. Your contributions will directly enable OpenAI to train safe and effective models for real-world deployment.
Responsibilities
- Execute complex programs for collecting high-quality data in partnership with research, operations, and engineering teams.
- Serve as a key interface between external vendors and AI trainers to ensure successful data campaigns.
- Gather requirements, write instructions, define success criteria, and calibrate AI trainers.
- Assess labeled data using internal tooling and provide feedback to AI trainers.
- Optimize tooling and processes for quality, throughput, and AI trainer experience by sharing critical recommendations.
Requirements
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity, managing shifting priorities, and adapting to fast-paced changes.
- Interest or background in AI, LLMs, or Agents is helpful but not required.
- Demonstrated ability to tackle tasks with enthusiasm, regardless of visibility.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with an empathetic approach to building relationships.
- Resilient and flexible, able to bounce back from setbacks and maintain a solution-oriented mindset.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage competing demands and bring structure to complex situations.
- Enjoyment of operational work and satisfaction in executing tasks efficiently.
- Hands-on experience with data analytics, using insights to inform decisions and improve processes.
- Energized by start-up environments, including hustle, resourcefulness, and rapid iteration.
- 1-2 years of relevant experience, with eagerness to grow and develop skills.
