OpenAI is seeking an ITAV Event Technical Producer to lead technical production for complex internal and external events. This role involves managing events from initial planning through live delivery, collaborating with stakeholders and technical teams to create production plans, and coordinating crews across multiple sites. The producer will resolve production challenges, build reusable production practices, and mentor junior team members. This is a full-time, onsite position based in San Francisco, with travel to other OpenAI locations as needed.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical production for complex internal, hybrid, and distributed events from planning through debrief.
- Align internal teams on event goals, requirements, and scope to create a production plan.
- Configure and operate live audio, video switching, cameras, playback, conferencing, streaming, and recording systems.
- Integrate the run of show across sites and lead global crews for all-company events.
- Lead rehearsals and validate the complete audience experience, including remote contributions and backup paths.
- Prioritize technical production tradeoffs and lead risk reviews and incident response.
- Build reusable production plans, show files, runbooks, and change-control practices.
- Coach peers and junior crew members on production practices.
- Set a roadmap for production improvements based on feedback and failures.
- Identify repeatable production work and build AI and agentic workflows.
- Validate AI workflow results and support adoption.
Requirements
- Experience leading complex live or hybrid productions across multiple teams.
- Advanced expertise in multiple live-production domains (audio, video, conferencing, streaming, AV-over-IP).
- Ability to diagnose complex interactions across the complete signal path.
- Experience configuring and operating professional production systems.
- Experience creating reusable show files or control workflows.
- Practical AV-over-IP and networking knowledge for troubleshooting.
- Experience independently resolving ambiguous production problems and setting detailed plans.
- Demonstrated ownership of rehearsals, technical readiness, failover testing, and incident response.
- Ability to lead crews and influence partner teams without reporting authority.
- Experience working with communications, marketing, brand, creative experience, Workplace, and technical partners on complex events.
- Experience building reusable production frameworks and validated AI workflows.
- Experience guiding team adoption and mentoring peers or junior staff.
- Experience with multi-space or multi-location productions is a plus.
- Experience with systems such as Q-SYS, Dante, Ross, Vizrt, or comparable platforms is a plus.
