OpenAI is seeking an ITAV Deployment Engineer to deliver audiovisual systems for new offices, expansions, and refresh projects. This role involves transforming approved designs into installed, configured, and tested systems, coordinating with integrators and managing site dependencies. The engineer will oversee the entire process from project inception through delivery, commissioning, and acceptance by the support team, collaborating closely with ITAV Engineering, Network Engineering, and Workplace teams. A key aspect of this role is identifying opportunities to automate repeatable deployment tasks using AI, agentic workflows, and scripting.
Responsibilities
- Deliver AV build packages for new offices, expansions, and refreshes based on approved designs and installation requirements.
- Coordinate the ITAV workstream for office construction projects from inception to delivery, aligning requirements, schedules, and dependencies with partner teams.
- Review project documentation, identify missing prerequisites, and raise design exceptions before installation.
- Coordinate equipment staging, installation sequencing, vendor deliverables, and site access with integrators and internal teams.
- Configure conferencing endpoints, Q-SYS controls, and AV-over-IP connections according to approved designs.
- Prepare device and port records and coordinate IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, VLAN, and connectivity with Network Engineering.
- Commission rooms end-to-end, testing all AV and conferencing functionalities against acceptance criteria.
- Diagnose and resolve installation and integration failures, maintaining and retesting a prioritized punch list.
- Deliver configuration backups, as-built documentation, inventory, test evidence, and support instructions, and train receiving technicians.
- Identify and automate repeatable deployment work using AI, agentic workflows, and scripting, maintaining reusable checks and templates.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience installing, configuring, and commissioning enterprise conference room AV systems from technical designs.
- Experience reading AV signal-flow drawings, equipment schedules, and installation plans, and recording as-built changes.
- Practical experience configuring conferencing hardware and platforms (e.g., Logitech, Cisco, Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting Q-SYS audio and control systems.
- Working knowledge of AV-over-IP technologies (e.g., Q-LAN, Dante, NDI) and ability to troubleshoot faults.
- Practical networking knowledge including IP addressing, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, and multicast.
- Experience coordinating integrator work, site prerequisites, equipment readiness, and commissioning milestones.
- Experience working cross-functionally with Workplace Design and Construction partners on new office projects.
- Ability to verify meeting experience, document technical acceptance, and prepare configuration records and support handoffs.
- Clear communication skills and demonstrated ability to build, test, and maintain AI and agentic workflows using scripting or configuration tools.
