About the job

NVIDIA is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the NeMo Helix Core team, responsible for building and shipping an open-source, plugin-based AI platform. This platform is designed for developing, evaluating, deploying, and operating AI systems at scale, with a particular focus on optimizing and orchestrating AI Agents across various compute backends. The role involves contributing to a sophisticated agent execution framework that enables parallel experimentation to find efficient agent architectures, making AI systems more sustainable and cost-effective by reducing token usage and improving throughput.

Responsibilities

  • Design an Agentic Execution system flexible for diverse environments (local, k8s, Slurm, on-prem/air-gapped).
  • Provide senior technical leadership through design and code reviews, mentoring, and problem ownership.
  • Build and maintain Core Platform APIs for job execution, data storage, secrets management, and RBAC/Auth.
  • Extend the plugin architecture to facilitate easy installation of new capabilities by internal teams and external customers.
  • Contribute to the open-source repository, maintaining high community standards.
  • Ship code rapidly using agentic coding tools.
  • Enhance reliability, observability, debuggability, and performance of the NeMo Helix platform, SDKs, plugins, and workflows.
  • Develop comprehensive test coverage across unit, integration, E2E, Docker, and Kubernetes workflows.

Requirements

  • BS, MS, or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience building production systems.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including producing and discussing architectural RFCs.
  • Strong system design skills with a pragmatic approach to building robust, scalable, secure, and performant systems.
  • Experience with distributed systems, cloud-native services, containers, Kubernetes, and job orchestration.
  • Excellent Python engineering skills, including API design, typing, testing, debugging, performance analysis, and maintainable software design.
  • Experience designing SDKs, libraries, plugins, CLIs, or other developer-facing interfaces.
  • Ability to work independently, define technical scope, break down ambiguous problems, and drive cross-team work.
