About the job

NVIDIA DGX Cloud is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Bare Metal Infrastructure team. This role focuses on building and maintaining the software that transforms new hardware into reliable, production-ready GPU capacity for demanding AI workloads. The ideal candidate will have deep systems engineering expertise, understanding the intricacies of servers, firmware, BMCs, and networks. You will be involved in the entire bare-metal lifecycle, from new platform introduction and firmware qualification to automated provisioning, validation, and remediation. The team heavily utilizes AI agents and LLM tools in its development process, and we are looking for someone eager to expand these capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain production services for bare-metal discovery, provisioning, hardware validation, firmware upgrades, auditing, and repair across large GPU fleets.
  • Develop integrations with Redfish and vendor BMC interfaces to manage server state, collect data, enforce configuration, and drive recovery, addressing vendor-specific differences.
  • Contribute to and review code in a Rust codebase, and build supporting tools and services in Go and Python.
  • Automate the detection, validation, and repair of recurring hardware, firmware, and connectivity failures.
  • Define and implement automated validation and handoff criteria for new platforms, firmware releases, and rack-scale deployments.
  • Debug complex failures across hardware, firmware, Linux, networking, and provisioning services, and integrate learnings back into software.
  • Partner with vendors and internal teams to resolve cross-boundary issues.
  • Utilize AI agents and LLM tools daily for code development, review, testing, and failure investigation, and help shape the team's AI adoption.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience building production infrastructure software, automation, or services, with significant hands-on work with bare-metal server systems.
  • Strong programming skills in Rust, Go, or Python, with a proven track record of designing, testing, shipping, and maintaining production code, and a willingness to work in Rust regularly.
  • Deep knowledge of enterprise server hardware from multiple vendors, including BMCs, BIOS/UEFI, and firmware management.
  • Direct experience with Redfish and IPMI for provisioning, health inspection, power management, or fault diagnosis.
  • Experience with network boot technologies (PXE/iPXE, DHCP, HTTP boot).
  • Strong Linux knowledge, including boot process, kernel/driver interactions, hardware discovery, and low-level failure analysis.
  • Solid datacenter networking fundamentals and ability to trace connectivity problems.
  • Demonstrated, regular use of AI agents and LLM tools in software development, with a strong interest in improving their application and the judgment to validate their output.
