About the job

NVIDIA is seeking outstanding Research Interns to join the Data-Driven AI for Robotics (DAIR) group, focusing on learning embodied skills from large-scale human data. The objective is to develop AI systems that can capture, understand, and reproduce complex human motion and interaction skills across physical and digital embodiments, including humanoid robots and animated characters. This research spans the full stack, from reconstructing human motion and interactions from video to generating controllable character behaviors, transferring motion across embodiments, and training grounded controllers for robots and virtual characters. Interns will collaborate with a supportive research team producing influential work and have opportunities to connect with product teams across NVIDIA.

Responsibilities

  • Innovate and implement novel AI algorithms to transform human data into controllable motion and interaction skills.
  • Develop scalable training and inference pipelines for motion reconstruction, generation, retargeting, and control.
  • Build methods to transfer human skills to humanoid robots, including loco-manipulation and dexterous manipulation.
  • Maintain a collaborative relationship with mentors.
  • Publish research findings at leading conferences.
  • Partner with product teams for technology transfer.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
  • Proficient in using coding agents for research prototyping and development.
  • Strong engineering skills in rapid prototyping and developing model-training and simulation frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, Isaac Lab, MuJoCo).
  • Excellent skills in working with large-scale machine learning/AI systems and compute infrastructure.
  • A research track record with at least one publication at a leading computer vision, computer graphics, or robotics conference.
  • Experience in areas such as human motion modeling, character animation, robot learning, generative modeling, or differentiable physics simulation is preferred.

Benefits

  • Internship hourly rates: 38 USD - 94 USD
  • Eligibility for Intern benefits
