AI needs a new infrastructure layer, and we're building it at Modal. We are seeking strong engineers experienced in creating software that developers find a pleasure to use. The ideal candidate will possess a clear drive to construct elegant abstractions that boost developer productivity. Our customers, including category-defining companies, rely on Modal for instant GPU access, rapid container starts, and native storage, enabling them to efficiently serve low-latency inference, fine-tune models, and access production-ready sandboxes at scale. We have recently secured significant funding and are experiencing rapid growth, with a team comprised of open-source project creators, academic researchers, and experienced engineering leaders.
Responsibilities
- Improve the developer and agent experience of our SDK and CLI.
- Develop new primitives to address emerging demands from the ongoing industry transformation.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience developing high-quality Python, JS, or Go applications or libraries used by other developers.
- Strong sense of code-as-product, focusing on developer ergonomics and productivity.
- Knowledge of async programming and concurrency management.
- High customer empathy, good communication skills, and willingness to work directly with users.
- Ability to participate in on-call rotations and respond to production incidents.
- Ability to work in-person in our New York or Stockholm office.
