About the job

Modal is seeking a hands-on Global Workplace Lead to oversee workplace experience across all its offices. This role involves managing the Workplace Experience team, setting the direction for daily operations, programs, and physical environments to ensure each location is successful. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for both the aesthetic and functional aspects of a space, applying the same level of taste and judgment to our offices as we do to our product. You will gain a thorough understanding of each office's specific needs and cultivate strong relationships with local leaders and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a team of workplace services professionals, including setting direction, coaching performance, and building a high-functioning team.
  • Ensure operational quality across all offices by monitoring service levels and space utilization, identifying trends, and resolving recurring issues.
  • Anticipate future business needs by staying informed about local conditions and company-wide objectives.
  • Develop the global budget and vendor strategy for workplace experience, and ensure contractors and service providers meet performance expectations.
  • Lead workplace experience initiatives during significant changes, such as new office openings and relocations.
  • Translate Modal's brand and culture into physical spaces, applying clarity, craft, and attention to detail.
  • Analyze data, stakeholder feedback, and business context to propose improvements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in workplace, facilities, or office operations, preferably in a high-growth tech company where you developed programs.
  • 2+ years of people management experience, including leading teams through office moves or openings.
  • Experience managing workplace operations across multiple offices, ideally in different countries.
  • Strong aesthetic sense and judgment, with an understanding of what aligns with Modal's brand.
  • Demonstrated willingness to be hands-on and manage details.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional partners and implement company strategy at a local level.
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
  • Comfortable working in an in-office role and collaborating with colleagues in person.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to Modal offices globally.
