Modal is building the next infrastructure layer for AI, enabling companies to handle new workloads that previous infrastructure couldn't support. Our platform provides instant GPU access, sub-second container starts, and native storage, simplifying tasks like low-latency inference, model fine-tuning, and scalable production-ready sandboxes. We are seeking talented individuals to join our growing Data team, focusing on building self-serve data tools and driving business strategy. The mission of the Data team is to empower the company with easy-to-use data tracking, evidence-backed decision-making, and effective prioritization through AI analytics tools and strategic data consulting.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to building a modern analytics stack for AI-driven self-serve analysis, key metrics tracking, and external customer reporting.
- Influence new product development, such as LLM Inference Endpoints, through product analytics tracking.
- Identify significant cost savings and optimization opportunities across tools and financial operations.
- Develop data pipelines to support business operations, including cloud compute economics and sales compensation.
- Create foundational datasets for use by both people and AI tools to answer questions related to product use cases, financial reporting, and marketing campaigns.
Requirements
- SQL fluency and Python proficiency.
- Professional experience with at least two of the following tools: Snowflake, dbt, dlt, Modal, Hex, Posthog.
- Ability to translate data insights into actionable impact beyond simple reporting.
- High attention to detail.
- Excellent and precise communication skills.
- Strong personability and relationship-building skills.
