MeridianLink is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to build the data foundation behind financial products used by credit unions and their members. This role involves developing tools that help credit unions support members through personalized credit education, digital financial coaching, and progress tracking. You will work with AI agents as part of the engineering workflow, handling meaningful implementation work, setting direction, reviewing output, and owning what ships. The goal is to empower consumers and help financial institutions turn loan declines into future lending opportunities, making complex credit information clear and useful while prioritizing safety and trust.
Responsibilities
- Own data-heavy features from design through production, planning pragmatic solutions for rising traffic and data volume.
- Improve data models, pipelines, migrations, and multi-tenant systems.
- Monitor production, investigate issues, and fix root causes.
- Help the team make clear, practical technical decisions.
Requirements
- 5+ years building, scaling, and running production software.
- Strong backend engineering skills in a typed language.
- Experience integrating third-party and public APIs such as OpenAI or Anthropic Claude.
- Experience with relational data modeling, migrations, and production data systems.
- Sound judgment when working with sensitive data and high-impact changes.
- Current, hands-on experience using AI coding tools and reviewing their output.
- Clear written communication, product sense, and comfort owning work end to end.
