About the job

Mercor is seeking a strong engineer to build scalable agentic products. You will work on a variety of teams focused on automating operational work, developing evaluation systems for RL environments, and building the infrastructure for producing frontier data. This role involves end-to-end ownership of agentic features, from initial scoping and design through implementation, launch, and iteration. You will collaborate with researchers, operators, and AI companies at the forefront of AI advancement, contributing to the development of systems that are redefining society.

Responsibilities

  • Own agentic features end-to-end, from scoping to iteration based on customer feedback.
  • Design and ship LLM agents, harnesses, and verifiers, including the tools, prompts, and policies that ensure their reliability.
  • Build Python/FastAPI services and Temporal/Modal pipelines for orchestrating agent runs and human-in-the-loop review.
  • Develop state-of-the-art RL environments with realistic enterprise applications and company data.
  • Create tooling to analyze agent trajectories, detect failure modes, and derive insights.
  • Build and refine full-stack interfaces and data infrastructure for agent interaction and auditing.
  • Define agent quality metrics and drive continuous improvement through evaluations, tracing, and prompt/tool/guardrail iteration.
  • Partner cross-functionally to shape agent autonomy, defining boundaries for autonomous action and human-in-the-loop decision-making.

Requirements

  • Strong engineering skills to build agentic products that scale.
  • Experience with backend technologies such as Python, FastAPI, and Django.
  • Familiarity with frontend frameworks like Next.js, React, and TypeScript.
  • Knowledge of data technologies including PostgreSQL, MySQL, Snowflake, DuckDB, and Redis.
  • Experience with orchestration and infrastructure tools like Kubernetes, Temporal, and Modal.
  • Understanding of agents and LLM frameworks such as LangGraph, LangChain, and FastMCP.
  • Familiarity with observability tools like Datadog, PostHog, and LangSmith.

Benefits

  • Bi-annual performance bonus structure
  • Generous equity grant vested over 4 years
  • Up to $15k Relocation bonus
  • $10K housing bonus (if living within 0.5 miles of office)
  • $1.5K monthly stipend for meals
