About the job
Mercor is seeking a Member of Technical Staff to join their Enterprise Platform team. This role is crucial for building and running complex agents used by enterprise customers and internal Applied AI engineers. You will work across the full stack, focusing on enterprise-grade security, routing, isolated execution, and the intelligence plane that drives improvements. This is a pure platform and infrastructure engineering position, with the opportunity to shape the future of agent platforms in a production environment. You will collaborate closely with Applied AI engineers, owning the platform that bounds the business's offerings.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate platform services including authentication, authorization, credential brokering, routing, sandboxing, and orchestration.
- Design interfaces for other engineers building agents and ensure the 'paved path' is the easiest to follow.
- Build an event-driven backbone for idempotent service scaling.
- Own the deployment model for both hosted and customer VPC/multi-cloud offerings, ensuring no bespoke builds are needed.
- Maintain tenant isolation to prevent runs from exceeding quotas.
- Manage latency, throughput, and cost per run as volume increases, including production debugging.
- Set the technical direction for owned platform components, not just implement them.
- Partner with Applied AI engineers on complex deployment challenges, owning the platform while they manage customer relationships.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building high-scale, complex software systems.
- Proven experience building and operating platforms relied upon by other engineers, with ownership of architectural decisions.
- Hands-on experience with primitives like authentication, authorization, secrets management, isolation, orchestration, egress, and durable state across multiple clouds.
- A drive to continuously improve system speed and cost-efficiency.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently on ambiguous problems with loose specifications.
- Bonus: Experience with LLM applications, agent frameworks, evals, or deployed software.
Benefits
- Up to $15k relocation bonus
- $10K housing bonus (if living within 0.5 miles of office)
- $1.5K monthly stipend for meals
- Generous equity grant vested over 4 years
- Free Equinox membership
- $200 monthly laundry reimbursement
- $200 monthly personal wellness reimbursement
- Health, Dental, Vision insurance
