Mercor is seeking exceptional engineering leaders to build and protect the integrity of its AI data ecosystem. This role focuses on developing fraud, risk, and compliance systems to ensure the trustworthiness of a global expert marketplace at scale. You will lead engineering efforts in fraud detection, platform integrity, and compliance infrastructure, building systems that are central to the AI ecosystem and safeguard the trust required for expert knowledge to be usable. This is an opportunity to work on one of Mercor's most critical business challenges, creating novel solutions for an AI-native expert marketplace.
Responsibilities
- Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team focused on fraud detection, identity verification, abuse prevention, and platform integrity.
- Define and execute the fraud and compliance engineering roadmap in collaboration with product, operations, and company leadership.
- Build systems for generating fraud signals, evaluating risk, making automated decisions, and continuous improvement via human feedback.
- Drive the development of AI-powered detection systems, including LLM-based decision engines and review workflows.
- Establish rigorous evaluation frameworks to measure detection performance and business impact.
- Recruit exceptional engineers and elevate the talent bar across the organization.
- Partner closely with product, operations, and company leadership.
- Drive engineering excellence, velocity, and operational rigor in an adversarial, fast-moving domain.
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend software engineering experience building and operating production systems at scale.
- 3+ years of engineering management experience leading high-performing software engineering teams.
- Experience leading teams through significant scale, ambiguity, or rapid change, with demonstrable personal impact.
